Pond Lilies at Isa Lake
Photograph # WF102U - Open Edition
Isa Lake, Yellowstone National Park

Wildflowers Collection
World of Nature

Fred used a polarizing filter to eliminate reflections on the water, giving the impression that the lily pads are floating in space. Isa Lake lies with the boundaries of Yellowstone National Park and sits astride the Continental Divide. When a big rain comes, one end of the lake drains into the Missouri River watershed and on to the Gulf of Mexico. The other end drains into the Snake River and Columbia River watershed, then on to the Pacific Ocean. Photographed in 1994.
